City of Greater Dandenong C143 Implementation of the Greater Dandenong Green Wedge Management Plan

In late October Planning Panels Victoria held a planning hearing to address the proposed Greater Dandenong Planning Scheme Amendment C143: South East Green Wedge Management Plan 2014.

The main point of contention for the Defenders of the South East Green Wedge was the proposal adopted by the Council at its meeting of 14 June 2016 where it resolved to further amend the Green Wedge Management Plan to facilitate a less restrictive requirement for subdivision within the area recommended as being zoned Green Wedge A Zone. The Council has proposed a minimum submission area of 0.2 ha for the Keys Road Precinct.

The submission presented by the Defenders of the South East Green Wedge to the Planning Panel on the 11 October 2016 is attached. It is the position of the Defenders in their submission that if the smaller subdivision size was ultimately approved by Parliament it would open the way for the end of the Dandenong portion of the Green Wedge and would set a precedent that would be vigoursly pursued across the Green Wedges and potentially see the demise of the Green Wedges as a whole.
